2 Medicine? A medicine contains one or more useful drugs
Often they are designed to make you feel better They target the symptoms e.g. headache They rarely actually target what is making you ill. Some do target what is making you ill e.g. antibiotics

3 Antibiotics Attack and destroy bacteria
Don’t harm human cells (no cell wall) Don’t destroy viruses (no cell wall)

4 Antibiotics Target and destroy bacterial cell walls
Bacteria unable to keep shape and so swell up and die

5 Problems with antibiotics
A key problem with antibiotics is allergic reactions. Allergic reactions can range from: Rash Swollen Throat Coma Death Adrenaline is used to treat severe allergic reactions
