A small body of water that connects two other bodies of water is called a strait.

3. The Bering Strait
The Bering Strait is located in the northwestern hemisphere between the country of Russia and the state of Alaska. It connects the Bering Sea and the Artic Ocean, and it is only 53 miles long.
