1 North Carolina

2 A successful colony.. All in all North Carolina wasn’t very successful. Their government struggled heavily, they failed to sell any land, and the taxes weren’t kept up to date for being collected.

3 Found in 1653!

4 Why this Colony was established...
This colony was established after the land had been given to them to use. It was named for Charles IX of France.

5 Who founded this state? The founders of North Carolina were the colonists from Virginia. They began to colonize the state.

6 Exporting and making money..
This colony was very involved in the land and farmed for their incomes. Tobacco, cotton, wheat, and corn were of their most major products.

7 The Colonists of the state.
African-American and slaves and slaves from the West Indies were a great majority of the population. There was a 2-1 ratio of the blacks and slaves to the whites. Men were more prominent among the new colonists.

8 The region involved with this colony.
This colony of North Carolina was in association with the Southern Colonies.

9 An establishment of a government.
In the 1600’s North and South Carolina was all one piece of land. One governor could not rule over this much land and peoples. Colonial Proprietors elected three governors; one for all of Carolina and two deputy governors in control of the, now separated, North and South Carolinas.

Geography-3 different divisions. Climate-”Shield” blocks the low temperatures.

The overall religious people are anglican churches, quakers, and the baptists.

15 Examples of foods in North Carolina.
They have many commons foods that were produced there, such as corn, wheat, and farming.

16 Kinds of education! Education was largely informal. The schools made religious groups.

17 What our colonist did for fun!
They played games such as hopscotch, tag,and hide-seek.

18 Interesting facts! The North Carolina Colony was one of the original 13 colonies located on the Atlantic coast of North America. Province of North Carolina was an English colony in North America that existed from 1653 until 1776, when it joined the other 12 of the 13 colonies in rebellion against Great Britain and became the U.S. state of North Carolina. North and South Carolina were one colony until 1729.
