PYP Inquiry Exhibition
Welcome! Please find your child’s blue folder.
2
What is the PYP Inquiry Exhibition?
Students produce a culminating project, combining the essential elements of the PYP and sharing their findings with the school community. Students participate in a collaborative, transdisciplinary inquiry process, involving them in identifying, investigating, and offering solutions to real-life issues or problems.
3
Transdisciplinary Theme: How We Organize Ourselves
An inquiry into the interconnectiveness of human-made systems and communities, the structure and function of organizations, societal decision making, economic activities, and their impact on humankind and the environment.
4
Individuals and groups connect and organize
Our Central Idea Individuals and groups connect and organize to solve problems.
5
An Inquiry Into: There are problems faced by various communities in developed and undeveloped countries. We will investigate the groups and projects organized to help solve these problems. The topic (the specific organization) chosen by your child should be a real world issue or problem, local or global.
6
Global and Local Examples...
Integrating creativity with research skills, this project will be most successful if your child chooses an organization in which he/she holds a sincere, personal interest.
7
PYP Inquiry Mentors and Mentees
Your child’s project will be done primarily at home. Each child will be assigned a specific mentor (a Streams Staff member). Your child will meet with the mentor monthly. At these meetings, the mentor will provide feedback, as well as assignments for your child to work on while at home. A monthly mentor report will provide home-school communication and progress updates.
