FAFSA – Types of Aid Federal student aid includes
Grants - financial aid that does not have to be repaid (unless you withdraw from school and owe a refund) Federal Pell grants with maximum awards of $5,815 State need grants with maximum awards of $6,876 Loans – borrowed money for college or career school; you must repay your loans, with interest. (Can be forgiven depending on career) Work-Study – a work program through which you earn money to help pay for school through loan servicers.

FAFSA – What you need Social Security Number or Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen) Most recent income tax returns, W-2’s, and other records of money (Note: you may be able to transfer your federal tax return information using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool) Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable) Records of untaxed income (if applicable) An FSA ID to sign electronically (can be created before starting the FAFSA for faster submission) If the student is a dependent student, most of the above information is also needed from parent

Washington Application for State Aid (WASFA)
If a student does not have a Social Security Number or Alien Registration Number, they may be eligible for WASFA, which is state aid for undocumented students, up to $6, 876 per year Eligibility: Graduate from a Washington State High School or obtain a GED Live in WA State for three years prior to, and continuously since earning a high school diploma or equivalent Apply online: readysetgrad.org/WASFA

Naviance Here are some steps towards finding additional resources to help understand financial aid using Naviance: On the Family Connection homepage, click on the “Colleges” tab at the top of the page The next page should be divided into three sections. Under the College Research section, click on the “College Resources” On the next page, there should be 5 links under College Resources. Click on “Financial Aid” or scroll down until you find that section. Use any of the links provided to look up additional information regarding financial aid, according to your needs (see descriptions below each link)
