THE INTERFERENCE PRINCIPLE (Hickson, 1985)
Dr. Istvan Balyi, related in seminars that sport science research has shown that there is an ‘interference principle’ which affects the Five Factors. Certain factors cannot be trained simultaneously with each other, without having a detrimental effect on overall training, and performance goals.

THE INTERFERENCE PRINCIPLE (continued)
To overcome the interference problem i) Prioritize certain training factors at specific times during the plan. ii) Hold other factors in maintenance mode This is achieved by sequencing the training program into various periods, which optimizes training and performance.
