This is a metaphor. In this quote, the song compares being deeply in thought to being waist deep in something.

There are two cases of assonanc e here. One is the use of "brighter" and "lighter", where it repeats the "i" sound.
The other is when the lyrics use "knew" and "you", which is repetition of the "u" sound.

This quote demonstrates personification, as stars cannot lean down and kiss you, because that is a human ability that inanimate objects cannot posses.

8. Paraphrase
I believe this song represents loneliness. It talks about how much he misses her, and how he won't forget her. He is in a beautiful place but he just can't enjoy it without her.
