Inquiry and Ripples (Twitter)
By, Julia Yaskowich

How does the influence of others impact our own lives?
Right from the start…

Quote #1 “Brent quickly retreated into the station, the man’s words burning in his brain. Being a stranger in a strange land had suddenly lost its appeal.” Pg.88 It shows the reader that Brent is overthinking, and wants to tell/ talk to someone about his incident with Lea…

Text to World Brent has trouble talking about what he had done, which could be similar to people having troubles talking about their own problems such as, depression, anxiety, or something they have done in the past

Text to Self I tend to overthink a lot of things. Like waiting to perform a speech. You don’t know if you’ll do good or not, and once you overthink it, it ends up going bad. The key is to talk about what’s going on to someone who you can trust, rather than keeping it in your head.

Quote #2 “But the worst part was the whirligig. It was a girl playing a harp, like in an orchestra.” Pg.80 The whirligig was the influencer. The many perspectives that passed by the sculpture told different stories, but Anthony’s mother managed to relate Anthony to the girl playing the harp without any context of the real meaning behind the whirligig…

Text to World Anthony was influenced into doing something he wasn’t interested in doing. This happens in lots of life situations, whether it’s an activity outside of school or your gender or sexuality preference…

Text to Self I was enrolled into piano lessons, then guitar lessons, but my real passion was art. I never said anything about it because my dad has a big passion for playing instruments…
