Has our system warped the competitive market? In our system most workers are insured through plans selected by their employers …So what do you think is the risk level of citizens NOT covered by insurance through their employers – higher than average or lower than average? Will premiums be higher for this pool of citizens? Are citizens likely to find lower prices through their job or as independent insurance seekers? Is this a competitive market outcome? If a few workers are unhappy with their insurance, is a large employers likely to change insurers? …Would those workers change insurance companies if prices were competitive? How would you feel if the government intervened and created a system where you had to buy other common items such as cars through your employer to save money? Your cell phone? Apartment rentals?
