5 Using prefix and suffix

6 We use ‘robot arms’ to help children hear the
phonemes used when speaking. This develops listening skills. Phoneme frames help children construct words. We use sound buttons to help write the phonemes.

7 To become an effective writer…
Ensure speaking and word pronunciation is corrected. Model, correct and amend errors or misunderstandings in tense. Expand vocabulary – and explain it!! Look for spelling patterns and word associations around you.

Sharing quality books with the class . Small group phonics two or three times each week. Introducing spelling patterns and rules. Handwriting focussing on phonics and word groups. Guided reading session (in groups) once a week.

11 Please remember To enjoy reading and writing with your children.
Some children will take longer than others to learn their sounds and start to read and write. Please don’t get anxious, they will get there when they are ready. If you have concerns or questions we are always here to help. Please come and see us.
