Tuesday, November 29 DIRECTIONS: You are in charge of making a shopping list for Thanksgiving dinner! Our meals should be fresh on our minds since we just celebrated the holiday! Make a list on the foods you ate for Thanksgiving (or that you would have gone out to buy...if you had it your way)!! **lesson plan on turkey! **make a list on the white board. Mark off the products that cannot be grown locally. ASK: what did I do? Why did I do this?
3
Agricultural connections
Where are all of these foods produced? Do any of these foods require special growing conditions? Does our climate and geography meet the requirements of growing these foods?
5
Think about it. Why are some foods unavailable?
What factors limit a farmer’s ability to grow foods? What about technology. How does technology impact the production of agricultural foods?
6
Origins of our thanksgiving!
A farmer's goal is to produce a product that is nutritious and economical for consumers. With these two goals in mind, farmers take many factors into consideration when choosing a location for a farm as well as the farm's overall capacity to grow crops and livestock for our food. Three factors: Climate Resource Availability Available Space

Think. Pair. Share. Directions: Taking what we’ve just discussed, I am going to break the class into pairs. With your partner, I will assign you a food item. You and your partner will research and complete the activity assigned for your food item. Once, you’ve completed the research – you and your partner will create a “paper infographic” presenting what you’ve learned about your food item.
