#1: A company wants to maximize its profits by selling radios. The following equation gives the profit as a function of the number of hours the assembly line is operating each day, (β, π), where β is the number of hours and π is the profit made. Β π β =β48 β ββ1560
4
Β π β =β48 β ββ1560 a. Find the number of hours the assembly line should be operating daily to reach the maximum profit. b. Find the maximum profit the company can make. Round to the nearest hundredth as needed.

Section 10.3 β Finding & Estimating Square Roots
Algebra I
11
Objective 1: Finding Square Roots
Key Concepts: Definition β Square Root The number a is a square root of b if π 2 =π Example: 4 2 =16 and β4 2 =16, so 4 and -4 are square roots of 16. So the radical symbol indicates a square root. The expression means the positive, or principal square root of 16. The expression means the negative square root of 16. The expression under the radical is a radicand. You can use the symbol Β± to indicate both square roots.
12
Example 1: 3 2 = β3 2 = What are the square roots of 9?
3 2 = β3 2 = What are the square roots of 9? What are the square roots of 729? What are the square roots of -196?
13
Things to remember⦠Every positive number has how many square roots?
Every negative number has how many square roots? What is the only number that has one real square root?
