The Triple Crown is a series of three live action Thoroughbred horse races that run in May and early June. The best 3 year old thoroughbred horses in the world are invited to race in what is considered to be the highest level of professional horse racing. The Triple Crown of Mathematics combines the spirit of these legendary races with some of the most challenging Math word problems. You’ll have to analyze and think your way through the tough terrain that is the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and The Belmont Stakes, in an effort to capture the Triple Crown of Mathematics. Answer all questions correct, and YOU could WIN the TRIPLE CROWN!

TRIPLE CROWN WINNER!!! How to Play:
WIN = 1st Place PLACE = 2nd Place SHOW = 3rd Place WIN = 1st Place PLACE = 2nd Place SHOW = 3rd Place Each race course contains 5 challenging math word problems. After you respond to each question, your horse will move further up the track. If you answer 5 out of 5 correct you WIN the race. If you answer 4 out of 5 correct you PLACE. If you answer 3 out of 5 correct you SHOW. At the end of the 3rd race (Belmont) add up the total amount you answered correctly from all three races. Welcome to the Kentucky Derby!
The first event of the Triple Crown is the Kentucky Derby. It is the best known horse race in America and was first run in The best 3 year old horses in the world meet on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs track in Louisville, Kentucky. The race is 1 ¼ miles in length, and draws close to 100,000 fans each year. The winning horse is draped with a blanket of roses, so the contest is often nicknamed the “Run for the Roses.” KENTUCKY

Welcome to the Preakness Stakes!
The second leg of the Triple Crown is known as the Preakness Stakes. The Preakness takes place at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The Stakes were first run in 1873, and the distance is slightly less than that of the Derby, with a race length of 1 and 3/16 miles. The winning horse is decked with a blanket of black-eyed Susans, the state flower of Maryland. MARYLAND

Welcome to the Belmont Stakes!
The final and most difficult leg of the Triple Crown is known as the Belmont Stakes. First raced in 1867, The Belmont Stakes are held at Belmont Park on New York’s Long Island. It is the longest of the Triple Crown races and nicknamed “the Test of the Champion,” because of its grueling 1 ½ mile distance. The Belmont winner is draped with a blanket of white carnations.
