1 Discrimination Abrion Allen

2 In elementary school I was treated differently than other students.
MY EXPERIENCE In elementary school I was treated differently than other students. I was given different assignments not because I needed help, but because I was stereotyped as not able to do the work. I began to feel degraded and stopped believing in myself. I wasn't perceived as smart or intelligent.

3 THE IMPACT This feeling continued until I was in high school.
I started a program that helped encouraged me in middle school and beyond. This program gave me extra help in class and after school.

4 Discrimination prevents our society from accepting differences and learning about other people. Learning and accepting differences makes our generation better. In order for our society to grow, we need to accept differences. The Biggest Problem

5 The supporting data shows that 81 of the 151 people surveyed thought that people are most discriminated against by race. The supporting data

6 How are People Discriminated Against? (You can pick more than one)

7 Supporting Data My experience is not unique.
According to a study done by Celia B. Fisher at Fordham University, “At least half of African American and Hispanic youth reported that they were hassled by store personnel, viewed as dangerous, or perceived as not smart because of ethnic prejudice.” According to eschooltoday, youth who experience discrimination can experience sadness, depression and guilt as a result. Supporting Data

8 Solution Discrimination starts at a young age and spreads at a older age. We live in a generation with many different cultures ,race, skin tone, and languages. Just being labeled or stereotyped risks our very own generation from failing apart. We all think that one race is better then the other or one race is only good at one thing when really all races cultures and etc are the same in one way that one we way are all the same is our difference which makes us all unique and a special way.

9 Solution I want to go back to my elementary school to talk to the kids about my experience.
