2. WAR GAMES & SIMULATION CENTRE SIMULATION BRANCH
Compact Eagle 2015 (basic information):
MULTINATIONAL CORPS NORTHEAST (MNC NE), Szczecin, Poland;
16-27 NOV 2015 (main stage NOV);
About 1300 units in JTLS (blue forces: POL, DEU, CZE, LTU, LVA. HUN, SVN; red forces: BOT).

3. WAR GAMES & SIMULATION CENTRE SIMULATION BRANCH
Assumptions of the CAX:
the Training Audience (TA) was tasked with new goals every day of the exercise;
the units had got a new (specified) location and new strength (according to Exercise Director’s (ExDir) decision) every morning;
the new situation was delivered by ExDir every day at 1300 and it had to be presented in JTLS - for acceptance - on a briefing at 1600;

4. WAR GAMES & SIMULATION CENTRE SIMULATION BRANCH
A Challenge for WG&SC:
Every day of the exercise the simulation Branch had got 3 hours to prepare and send about 2600 orders (1300 Magic Moves and 1300 Controller Change Units).

5. WAR GAMES & SIMULATION CENTRE SIMULATION BRANCH
Possible solutions:
provide TA with Controllers’ orders
use ORDER ENTRY CLIENT solution
prepare dedicated Order File(s) – using REFORMAT ORDER SPREADSHEET – and use READ ORDER FILE order

Possible solutions:
provide TA with Controllers’ orders (too dangerous)
use ORDER ENTRY CLIENT solution (it turned out that it is impossible because of security requirements of the computer networks)
prepare dedicated Order File(s) – using REFORMAT ORDER SPREADSHEET (ROS) – and use READ ORDER FILE order

7. WAR GAMES & SIMULATION CENTRE SIMULATION BRANCH
First Idea:
TA prepares (and put on the nerwork drive) MS Excel sheet(s) with:
unit name (according to JTLS)
unit new location (MGRS coordinates)
unit new strength (range 0 ÷ 1)
Controller:
prepares control files for CHANGE COMMAND AUTHORITY and CONTROLLER CHANGE UNIT ordres
makes coordinate conversion from MGRS to DECIMAL
prepares Order Files (CCA and CCU orders)
sends READ ORDER FILE order (indicates the files as a source of orders)

8. WAR GAMES & SIMULATION CENTRE SIMULATION BRANCH
First Idea:
It was a defeat because of:
a lot of mistakes in unit names in the Excel sheets
a lot of mistakes in MGRS coordinates (odd number of digits)
wrong value of strength (99 instead of 0.99 or 0,99 instead of 0.99)

9. WAR GAMES & SIMULATION CENTRE SIMULATION BRANCH
What was finally done:
A website was prepared where a form on the website contained:
unit names (they were got directly from JTLS)
new location of the unit - (with automatic control correctness)
new strength of the unit (with automatic control correctness)
Then the databse was unloaded into text file
Next, a dedicated script transformed the text file into proper spreadsheet (acceptable by REFORMAT ORDER SPREADSHEET)
Finally, the orders CCA and CCU were cerated and sent by Controller
