4 History Independence Movement & Leaders: In the 1838 slavery was abolished and calling for self determination in the 1930’s. Some leaders were Alexander Bustamante, aided by Norman Manley who formed today’s political parties. Also Christopher Columbus discovered Jamaica in 1494. Customs: Greetings range from a nod and slap on the back or a kiss. They eat dinner at 4pm. Guest sometime offer the host a small gift. Dating & Marriage customs: Wealthier Jamaicans often date in pairs and marry in their twenties before children are born.

6 Current Issue A major issue facing Jamaica are drugs. Drugs are constantly being trafficking since Jamaica is an important pit stop for Colombian cocaine also known as the “middle man.” Some negatives are corruption, crime, and health problems. The only reasonable benefit is money.

7 How To Solve The Current Issue
Some attempts to solve Jamaica’s current drug problem is to have more industry and a better economy to attract more tourist since that’s how Jamaica makes most of it’s money. Also the law enforcement has constantly been making arrests of the drug distributers and buyers. Though they have to use weapons to do so.
