1) The Big Bang Theory All matter was concentrated into a small area which then exploded outward and expanded rapidly 13.7 billion years ago.

The size is still expanding rapidly in all directions

2) Doppler Effect As distance increases, waves stretch out; as they get closer they squeeze together.

Universe (biggest), galaxy is in the universe and the solar system is in the galaxy.

In our galaxy our solar system is located at the end of one spiral arm. (Interesting fact) It takes us 200 million years to rotate around the center of the galaxy
