Greetings: Saludos I How to Greet People in Spanish
Buenos días. Good morning. Buenas tardes. Good afternoon. Buenas noches. Good evening. Hola. Hello. Note: In Spanish-speaking countries, people shake hands when greeting each other. Many people also hug or kiss each other on the cheek.

Saludos and the Time of Day
The greetings that are used in Spanish reflect the time of day. Buenos días is used in the morning (from 6:00 AM until noon). Buenas tardes is used in the afternoon and early evening (from noon until 6:00 PM). Buenas noches is used at night (from 6:00 PM until 6:00 AM). Hola can be used to greet someone at any time of day.

Saying Good-bye: For How Long?
In Spanish, the way people choose to say good-bye depends on how soon the two people will see each other again. Hasta luego, Hasta pronto and Nos vemos are used if the two people plan to see each other very soon. Hasta mañana is used if the two people plan to see each other tomorrow. Adiós is used if the two people don’t plan on seeing each other for a few days or more.
