Flexible Seating My class loves to be engaged in their learning. Having choice in how to learn is a "seat" in the right direction. They take charge of how they can concentrate, either by sitting, standing, laying on a rug, sitting on the floor, or bouncing gently.
15
Homework minutes of reading each night with family or independently 10 minutes of Moby Max or additional math work where extra practice is needed Occasional projects to be shared in class. Here's what the research says: In general, homework has substantial benefits at the high school level, with decreased benefits for middle school students and little benefit for elementary students (Cooper, 1989; Cooper et al., 2006).While assigning homework may have academic benefits, it can also cut into important personal and family time (Cooper et al., 2006).

Behavior We created four simple rules to guide behavior this year. Each week we discuss one of the rules and emphasize its importance. I use a system of colored cards, pennies, and/or behavior contracts depending on the child. Every child has an opportunity to be “True Blue” each and everyday, so behaviors are expected to change and are rewarded appropriately.
