MEETING MY RESPONSIBILITY
PART 2
2
Many look upon them lightly.
Men and women have many responsibilities in several areas of their lives. Many look upon them lightly. We live in an age where people do not want to take responsibilities. We all have certain responsibilities given to us by God. We cannot afford to take these lightly. Our families. The church. To God.
3
We Have A Responsibility To Christ.
To keep His commandments. John 14:15, "If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. Hebrews 5: Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.
4
Be in subjection to Him. Ephesians 5: For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Colossians 1: And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Luke 4: "But why do you call Me `Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?”
5
To believe that He is the Son of God.
We all need to make the confession that Peter did. Matthew 16: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.'' John 20: And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'' And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
6
We Have A Responsibility To Others
To teach them. II Timothy 2: And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Matthew 28: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; We are responsible for what we teach. I Timothy 4: Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
7
Restore the fallen. Galatians 6: Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. James 5: Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. To help those in need. Romans 12: Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. Matthew 25- Jesus tells us that the last judgment will have to do with how we treated those in need.
8
Galatians 6: So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. To Encourage And Edify Romans 14: Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. Hebrews 10: Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
9
We Have A Responsibility To Our Self
To obey and work out our own salvation. Revelation 22: Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Philippians 2: Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; Acts 2: And he testified with many other words and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."
10
To make your salvation sure.
II Peter1: Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; I Corinthians 9: But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. II Corinthians 13: Examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
11
ARE YOU FULFILLING YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?
TO YOUR FAMILY? TO THE CHURCH? TO GOD? TO CHRIST? TO OTHERS? TO YOURSELF?
