2. Electric current produces a magnetic field
Electromagnetism – magnetism that results from an electric current
Movement of charged particles produces a magnetic field
Therefore moving electrons can create a magnetic field around a wire

North pole forms at one end, south pole at the other

Electromagnet interacts with a magnet causing opposite poles to attract and unlike poles to repel

Motors can move objects in any direction
Can be large enough to power a train or car
Small enough to run a watch
