7 IMS Global Learning Consortium
David Ernst, Chairman of the  IMS Board, Associate Vice President and CIO, University of California, Office of the President Rob Abel, Chief Executive, IMS The non-profit IMS Global Learning Consortium is bringing to market new interoperability standards that enable easy and agile integration of learning management software with learning tools, ERP systems, and portals. The IMS standards are now being adopted by both proprietary and open software and content providers - enabling a new opportunity for institutions to collaborate on reducing the cost of integration and to share applications and content. IMS would like to discuss how EDUCAUSE CIOs can take advantage of and help lead the direction and adoption of the IMS work.  

8 Research & Educational Network Security
REN-ISAC Leveraging Community Resources for Securing Small and Midsized Institutions Friday, 9:30, Ballroom E Small and midsized institutions face many of the same security challenges as large institutions but often have fewer dedicated security staff. This session will focus on the resources and services, available through the Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC) and the REN-ISAC, that have been leveraged to improve institutional security practices in a cost-effective manner and lessons learned that apply to all institutions striving to secure their information resources.
