Week 5 Giving
10
Part One: God who gives
11
God who gives… John 3:16 “16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Deuteronomy 8:18 “But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth,”
12
God who gives… I Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” James 1:5 “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.”
13
God who gives… II Corinthians 9:10-11 “10 This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, 11 wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God.”
14
Part Two: Godly Giving
15
Three Types of Giving in the Bible ~ Tithing, Alms & Offerings.
16
Godly giving ~ Alms Gifts to the poor,
Matthew 6:3 “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,” Always confidential so as not to embarrass the poor. Proverbs 19:17 – “If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD--and he will repay you!”
18
Godly giving ~ Offerings
Other giving besides the Tithe. Missions. Other ministries not limited to your church (ie Klove).
19
Godly giving ~ Tithing Tithing means “tenth.” All the way back in Genesis God established the practice of “tithing”. Tithing is giving the first tenth of all your increase. All Bible believing churches teach tithing - Tithing was established BEFORE the Law.
20
Godly giving ~ Tithing The only thing Jesus commended the Pharisees for was tithing – Matt. 23:23. The call to tithing never ended as it reflects God and honors God. Tithing is actually the first step in giving and it comes with amazing promises.
21
Part Three: God’s Giving Challenge
22
God’s Giving Challenge
God promises His blessing when we are faithful. Proverbs 3:9-10New King James Version (NKJV) 9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
23
God’s Giving Challenge
God promises His blessing when we are faithful. Proverbs 3:9-10New King James Version (NKJV) 9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
24
Malachi 3:8-12 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.
25
Malachi 3:8-12 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
26
Malachi 3:8-12 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts; 12 “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the Lord of hosts.
27
Malachi 3:8-12 8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. To not tithe is robbing God! “The tithe belongs to the Lord” Leviticus 27:30. Places you in a cursed position.
28
Malachi 3:8-12 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. Bring all the tithe into the storehouse – All the tithe goes to your local church (storehouse) The only area where God says you can test Him.
29
Malachi 3:8-12 Open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings.
11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts; 12 “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the Lord of hosts. Open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings. He will rebuke the devourer for your sakes. The fruit of your labor will be protected. People will recognize you are blessed
