Mrs. Hoover in a Nutshell
Born and raised in Vienna, Austria Taught at Spreckels Elementary for 6 years and Tular for 5 years (this is my sixth year). 4th grade for 11 years, this is my 12th year Mother of 24 year old daughter, Chelsea, and 21 year old son, Kelvin Grandmother of Levi (almost 4 years old) Married 26 years I ride my horse, Kiowa, as often as I can, and love to sail.

Papers on the wall/on Google Docs won’t be perfect- work in progress with specific focus Model of instruction focused on the writing process- will not see grades as frequently

10 days of completed homework assignments = Homework Pass Individual tickets – student driven rewards Group Tally Winners = Goodie Box (small items) Whole Class 50 Point Challenge = Classroom Celebration (relaxation, movie, outside)

Rules and Rewards Student of the Month Criteria All Homework: neat/complete/on-time Appropriate classroom behavior Appropriate playground behavior Appropriate behavior in pull-out classes Library books returned ON TIME – responsibility (instruments, PE clothes, etc.). Exemplifies “Pillars of Character”

Verbal Warning Reminder… Green Card covered by Yellow Card Red Card = 5 minutes loss of recess Blue Card = Lunch Detention, Parent , if warranted Pink Slip = Parent or conference

Typical Nightly Homework
Homework is posted weekly on our classroom calendar online: Students write down homework into their planners daily… please check Read for A.R. books: Mon – Thurs (20 min.) Math Page Language Arts: Iconic Prompt Journal – 1 icon Miscellaneous – Science / Social Studies interactive textbook pages, reports/projects (usually completed in class- only if absent, or there is no time to catch up in class).

Teacher – Parent Communication
Graded/Important papers- please sign and return. Grade report sent home periodically. Completed / corrected student work is sent home every 4-5 weeks. PLEASE SIGN and return EMPTY envelope or call with any questions or concerns – prefer Ext 3350 Parent / teacher conference (Fall & Spring) or as needed Curriculum Brochure to be found at:
