1 Algebra 1 Mr. Hochberg Day 12
Need to edit automaticity to make more editable.

2 Review (Do Now) Total Time: 10 minutes
Do 3 problems (one problem from each column), raise your hand, repeat. 1) GRAPH: 2) Draw a number line. Start at -5 Go right 4. Where do you end up? Which problem is represented above? 3) DISTRIBUTE 3(X+4) 4) GRAPH: 5) What is: (3)(4)(-1) = ? (-3)(4)(-1) = ? (3)(-4)(-1) = ? (-3)(-4)(-1) = ? 6) DISTRIBUTE 5(M – 4) 7) GRAPH: 8) What is: 4A + 2A = ? 8B - 2B = ? 5C + 1C = ? 9) DISTRIBUTE -2P(3 - 4L) X Y 5 1 4 2 X Y 3 -1 4 -3 5 -5 X Y -3 3 -2 4 -1 5

9 Objective Total Time: 2 minutes
OBJECTIVE: SWBAT apply the distributive property by scoring at least 8/10 correct during “Numbered Heads”. TURN AND TALK What is today’s objective in your own words? How does it relate to what we have been doing? Is there any new vocabulary?

26 Agenda Total Time: 10 seconds
25 minutes Opening Routine (Review, Automaticity, Good Things, Survey Says…, Objective) 20 minutes Distributive Property 5 minutes Brain Break Numbered Heads 12 minutes Closure (Objective Check, Shout Outs, Next day HW Review, Exit Ticket, Quote of the Day)

27 Objective Check Total Time: 1 minute
OBJECTIVE: SWBAT apply the distributive property by scoring at least 8/10 correct during “Numbered Heads” Whole Class Did we meet today’s objective?

28 Homework Review Total Time: 2 minutes
Take today’s homework Ask clarifying questions

29 Shout Outs Total Time: 3 minutes
Take one post it from your bin and write A positive shout out to another student OR A way you used growth mindset (GM) today Example 1: “Shout out to Brandon for helping me understand how to graph.” Example 2: “I used GM today by trying to solve without a calculator even though I always use a calculator.”

30 Exit Ticket Total Time: 5 minutes

31 Quote of the Day 15 seconds
Reflection Numbered Heads takes a lot of time, so want to leave more time for that. Good level of engagement. Make it 45 seconds per problem… Think aloud/model wasn’t as strong. How to make it discovery? Good idea making problems really hard at the end. Brain break wasn’t bad, but some students were like “what??”
