1 Evangelism: Reasons Why “I” Need to be a Personal Worker
Scripture Reading: Mt 28:18-20

2 Reason #1: It is a Direct Command (Mt 28:18-20)
We would never consider ignoring the Lord’s Supper or lying or stealing, why do we disregard Christ’s Words to go and Teach: It is not an option (Heb 5:12) We must not avoid this important command “Go therefore” is a command I must follow The command is to “Go” not simply wait and see who comes on their own to hear God’s Word Too many times we are dependent on others coming to us rather than following the message of “Going” to them The Lord does not take us right away at baptism, He tells us to go out and bring others to Him. We are His workers here on earth

3 Reason #2: It is necessary for My own Self Preservation (Jn 15:16)
Christ gives us the example of the fig tree to remind us of our need to produce or be cut down (Lk 13:6-9) Employer employee example: If an employee doesn’t perform his job but is not “Causing any problems” how long until the employer fires that employee If we do not evangelize to others, there blood is on our heads (Acts 18:6; Ezek 3:18) People may not listen…that may be true, but now I am no longer responsible We are called to Go- It doesn’t mention anything about results (1 Cor 3:6) Noah preached 120 years and yet received no positive results

4 Reason #3: It Should be a Direct Result of my Love for Others
Is there any greater gift you can give someone than helping them save their soul? When I really love others, I cannot keep the Gospel to myself We all share our favorite recipes or health treatments with those we love I can share the greatest remedy on earth-the Gospel Jam 5:20 “let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”

5 Reason #4: The Value of a Soul (Lk 15:1-10)
I may never fully consider those who are lost until I recognize the cost of their actions and situation (Rom 3:23) A man’s soul is His most valuable possession It separates us from all other created animals/beings Ez 18:4 “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.” Mt 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Mt 16:26 “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

6 Reason #5: The Fear of the Lord (2 Cor 5:11)
Verses to consider regarding the “Fear of the Lord” Deut 10:12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God…” Ps 33:8 “Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.” Prov 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” 1 Pet 2:17 “Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.” A warning from the Hebrew writer Heb 10:31 “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

7 Reason #6: I am a debtor Paul was a debtor to teach
Rom 1:14-17 “14 I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise. 15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.” Given what Christ has done for me, the least I can do for Him is follow His command to share the Word 2 Cor 5:14-15 “14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”

8 Reason #7: If I Don’t Fulfill this Command the Church Will Suffer (Rev 3:15-16)
When Christians become apathetic, the church has real problems Rev 3:15-16 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Without each individual doing his/her part, the church runs the risk of becoming stagnate and dying

9 Conclusion: Questions I can ask Myself
Am I wise in God’s eyes? Prov 11:30 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.” Would I be described as one who has “Beautiful feet”? Rom 10:15b ““How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Am I following Christ and His mission? 1 Cor 11:1 “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.” If I can answer no to any of these questions the time is now to change things As you ask yourself these questions, if there is any way we can help, make it known while we stand and sing
