Abstract A summary of lab. DO LAST
5
Procedures List materials you used. You MAY include in your procedure
Summarize what steps you performed in PAST TENSE
6
Example of procedure Ex. 10 healthy isopods were obtained and placed in a choice chamber consisting of a central circular area, with passageways open to 4 different circular areas. Two of the areas (A and B) were heated using a seed starter mat, raising the temperature by 15 degrees over the room temperature Two other areas (C and D) were not heated and allowed to remain at room temperature All chambers were of equal size and received the same amount of light and were equally dry After placing the isopods in the central area, A transparent plastic cover was placed over the entire setup to prevent isopods from escaping, and allow observation The number of isopods in each chamber was counted each minute Over a period of 10 minutes. The average of isopods in each chamber was determined
7
Results Describe the graphs and any other data, any trends
Restate the original hypothesis and if the data supports the hypothesis Summarize conclusions that can be drawn Describe any sources of error
8
Results example The results show that isopods prefer a cooler environment and exhibit overall a negative taxis away from the heated chambers. As seen in graph one, for minutes 1-3 after initially leaving the central chamber they were equally scattered, but by minute 5 there was a significant increase in numbers of isopods n the warmer chambers, most notably chamber C. By the end of 10 minutes there were clearly more isopods in the warmer chambers C and Graph B shows the averages of the time spent in each chamber and confirms that overall more time was spent in the warmer chambers. These results suggest that isopods, which are known to live in dark areas such as under rocks and logs, will exit positive taxis towards cooler areas and move away from areas that are heated. Note that one of the isopods in experiment appeared to have some injured legs and possibly could have affected the results some what

DATA Include Data tables in results
Graphs MUST have labeled axes with proper units and spacing Graphs must be titled appropriately Include a color key when appropriate EX. Graph A the movement of isopods over time in response to heat Graph B: the average number isopods found in heated and non heated chambers over 10 minute

ABSTRACT Abstract should summarize the lab

This experiment set out to determine the effect of heat on the taxis and behavior of isopods. Isopods are segmented crustaceans about 1 cm in length, that are common in north America and are usually found under rocks and rotten logs where the environment is cool, moist and shaded. It was proposed that isopods will exhibit a negative taxis away from warmer areas and seek out cooler areas if environment becomes too warm. A choice tray of a central chamber connecting 4 identical chambers surrounding it was used. 10 isopods were placed in central chamber and had equal access to the other 4 chambers, to which they could freely move to. Entire set up was covered with clear plastic and all of the chambers had the same environment with regards to light, , humidity but 2 chambers were heated 15 degrees warmer that the other 2 chambers The isopods were allowed to move freely and their chamber location was recorded every minute for 10 minutes. The results show that the isopods clearly preferred the cooler areas It can therefore be proposed that Isopods, when exposed to warmer temperatures, will seek out cooler areas, affecting their taxis behavior
