See, your king comes to you,    righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey,    on a colt, the foal of a donkey. 10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim    and the warhorses from Jerusalem,    and the battle bow will be broken. Popularity- Frightened the Jewish leaders
Claiming to be the Messiah-
Upset Jewish leaders- People were calling him “Saviour” by shouting Messiah.- this would seem a threat to Jewish leaders.
Could have been seen as a threat to the Romans – warrior king
Claimed to be the Messiah but had no intention of getting rid of the Romans .

7. Plenary The people in Jerusalem believed that the Messiah had come.
There may have been some confusion on what kind of Messiah he was.
Through the start of the Palm Sunday celebration it shows that Christians realise he was a peaceful Messiah.
The Jewish leaders and Romans would have felt threatened- Conflict due to his popularity.

This is celebrated on Palm Sunday. Christians give out palm crosses and re-enact the procession.
