Who would be the target audience for your media product?

The target audience for our production would be 16-24 years old
The target audience for our production would be years old. The reason why it would be at that age range is because in this case, the majority of horror movies which are released in the UK would be given a BBFC rating of 15 or 18, depending on the intensity of the actual production. An example would be The Final Destination, a 2009 horror-drama movie which was given the rating of 15 for strong gore, sex and language, the BBFC Insight said “THE FINAL DESTINATION was passed ‘15’ for strong gore, sex and language. The opening accident at the racing track involves a number of bloody, splatter effect CGI and fake blood based kills as flaming engines and car parts land on people. Wooden or metal spikes perforate heads and chests, heads are blown off while bodies are bisected or crushed by masonry. These deaths are echoed in the following action. Subsequent deaths also involve lumps of flesh and copious blood and include: metal to the eye, leaving a socket; being sliced by a wire fence; several explosions; renegade nail guns and a gory crushing by escalator. The deaths are first seen in premonition then play out with a comic pay off.” This shows that that movie wouldn’t be suitable for all ages due to the graphic content.

Not much horror movies are given the 12A/12 rating due to most horror movies containing very strong gory images and language. The Woman in Black is an example of a horror movie which was given a 12A rating at the cinema, was given a 12 on DVD with a 15 rated edition due to its supernatural threat and scenes which were cut. There are a number of scenes of supernatural horror and threat in which the ghost of the 'woman in black', as well as the ghosts of her victims, appear to and threaten the central character and others. While this threat is generally moderate, with more intense scenes broken up by other material and by a number of quieter periods in between the more frightening sequences, the sequence from ANGEL OF DEATH features strong and sustained threat. This is what BBFC had said about the movie
