1 Employability By: Carla Burroughs

2 Employability Skills The first four important employability skills are: Communication, Teamwork, Problem Solving, And Management

3 Employability Skills The last five employability skills are:
Planning and Organizing, Technology, Lifelong Learning, Initiative and Enterprise, And Attributes.

4 Communication and Teamwork
Good communication skills are important because it involves elements such as being a good listener, expressing yourself clearly and in writing, explaining things to people from different backgrounds and presenting a clear case. Teamwork involves people coming together to create something as a team. It is important because it teaches the value of other people’s ideas and contributes and cooperation.

5 Problem Solving and Management
Problem Solving involves being able to offer a solution to a problem by analyzing a situation and working out how to arrive at a favorable outcome. It is important because it often involves making use of available resources and enlisting others to achieve an outcome. Self Management refers to the ability to take responsibility for your own actions and life direction, and to set goals and successfully achieve them. It is important because it involves setting achievable goals and using your time and resources effectively to achieve them.

6 Planning and Organizing
Planning and Organizing involves coordinating and delegating tasks and also using resources to achieve those tasks. It is important because companies need workers who can stay organized and focus on the projects at hand.

7 Technology and Lifelong Learning
Technology involves being able to keep up with current technology and apply it to problems. It is important because the ability can be used to embrace life-long learning in the field of technology. Lifelong learning refers to your ability to manage your own learning and contribute to ongoing improvement and expansion in your own knowledge and skill set. It is important because it refers to your ability to learn workplace skills and expectations specific to your organization.

8 Initiative and Enterprise
Initiative and Enterprise involves being able to see innovative ways of doing things, seizing opportunities, and taking initiative. It may involve a newer way of looking at a situation or the addition of a new idea to improve or streamline an existing process.

9 Attributes Attributes are the characteristics of a person. They are important because they are what make you different from everyone else. They are why everyone is special in their own way.

10 Appropriate Professional Attire
The man on the left is wearing a dark suit and a tie. His attire is definitely professional for a job and/or interview. The woman on the right’s attire is very professional for a business interview or job. She is wearing a dark blazer and her pants are longer than the tips of her fingers. The buttoned-up shirt is often described as the workhorse of a business formal outfit, and that is because it comes in a huge variety of colors, patterns, and fabrics, and is suitable for all business formal occasions.

11 Inappropriate Professional Attire
The man on the left’s attire is definitely inappropriate for a job interview. As you can see, he is wearing shorts and flip-flops, and he hadn’t even combed his hair. The woman on the right is wearing a very short dress that shows a lot of skin. If she really wants to be taken seriously, she should start wearing more professional items of clothing.

12 More Examples of Appropriate Professional Attire
Both the man’s and the woman’s attires are professional and definitely appropriate for a business job or interview.

13 More Examples of Inappropriate Professional Attire
The woman on the left’s attire is very inappropriate for the workplace. She is showing too much skin and is wearing sunglasses. The man on the left’s attire is also too casual for the workplace. He is wearing shorts that are way too short and flip flops.

14 More Examples of Appropriate Professional Attire
Both this man’s and this woman’s attires are very appropriate for the workplace because he is wearing a suit and tie and she is wearing a blouse that doesn’t show her chest and a skirt that is longer than the tips of her fingernails.

15 More Inappropriate Examples of Attire for the Workplace
Unless the man on the right is applying for a clown Job, I don’t think that his attire is appropriate for the workplace. The woman on the right’s attire is definitely not appropriate for the workplace. Both her top and skirt are way too short so it shows off a lot of skin.

16 Professional Attire Both the man’s and the woman’s attires are very professional. They don’t show off very much skin, and are not too casual for a business meeting

17 Non-Professional Attire
The man’s attire would be appropriate if he didn’t have a professional job (i.e finance, etc.) The woman’s attire would be great for a night on the town, but if she had shown up to work like that, it would not be appropriate due too the length of the dress and heels

18 Professional Attire The woman’s pantsuit is very professional.
It doesn’t show off a lot of skin and the pants go down to her ankles. As for the man, his Vest is also an example of professional attire.

19 Non-Professional Attire
The man and woman in this slide’s attires are not appropriate for a job interview or meeting because they are both too casual.

20 Teachers The two teachers I would say always wear dress appropriately and have good employability skills are Mr. Edwards and Mr. Turman because they both dress very appropriately for the school day and show many employability skills everyday.
