What to Study: The script! Make sure you understand it 100%. Come see me with your questions. Vocabulary from Weekly HW (You can download the vocabulary list at If you have questions about your homework, please ask me or meet me outside of class before the final exam.

What to Study: Indirect speech (study the examples from Modern Family and the expressions we used in the homework/on the quiz/etc.) Even/Even if/Even though Location of adverbs Question-word phrases (ex. “what I want” instead of “the thing I want,” etc.)

What Not to Study: Adapting Language
Using phrasal verbs instead of formal verbs

Final Exam Format The final exam will be entirely multiple choice questions (A, B, C questions). 50 questions total. 20 questions about vocabulary (2 points each). Example: If a person is uptight, do they like dancing in a club? A.) Yes, definitely. B.) Yes, but they are bad at it. C.) They probably don’t like to dance.

Midterm Format 10 questions about the plot (2 points each).
Example: Gloria says “When was the last time you kissed Mitch?” Jay says, “What does that have to do with anything?” What does Jay’s comment mean? A.) Jay doesn’t think showing affection is important. B.) Jay doesn’t want to kiss his children. C.) Jay is angry at his family for blaming him.

Final Exam Format 20 questions, 5 on each topic (2 points each):

Final Format Summary Vocabulary: 40% Indirect Speech: 10%
