The aim of teaching Pdhpe?
Pdhpe is taught in schools to develop students knowledge and understanding of skills, values and attitudes so they can make informed and responsible decisions on how to live healthy and active lives. The topic areas covered in Pdhpe are broad and intricate. These include: active lifestyles, dance, games and sports, growth and development, interpersonal relationships, gymnastics, personal health choices and safe living.

What skills do these areas develop?
The areas taught in Pdhpe are beneficial because they develop: Decision-making skills Interaction skills Problem solving skills Communication skills Movement skills

Physical Education Within Pdhpe is the P.E or Physical Education component. This area is Pdhpe focuses on developing physical skills and strategies through creative and fun methods. A variety of sports, dance, gymnastic and individual relaxation equips the child with methods of enjoying their physical abilities while being able to contribute to their own health.

The overall skills developed in Pdhpe
The skills learnt by the child can be employed in all aspects of their lives. This includes value and respect for themselves, others and the community. Healthy lifestyles becomes interconnected with mental, physical and social wellbeing. Students gain knowledge of how to enjoy and embrace healthy eating and exercise. The foundations learnt by children in Pdhpe set them up for a happy, healthy and fulfilled life.
