Scale Drawings 7.G.1 Solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale 7.RP.1 Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units. For example, if a person walks 1/2 mile in each 1/4 hour, compute the unit rate as the complex fraction (1/2)/(1/4) miles per hour, equivalently 2 miles per hour

Lesson Objectives Understand that a scale is ratio.
Computer actual lengths from a scale drawing involving geometric figures. Compute actual areas from a scale drawing involving geometric figures. Reproduce a scale drawing using a different scale. Determine the scale of a drawing given the ratios of lengths and areas in the drawing and the actual dimensions
4
Prerequisite skills Write and solve a proportion.
Draw geometric figures given specifications Find the perimeter and area of geometric shapes
5
Vocabulary SCALE DRAWING – a drawing that shows an objet with its measurement in proportion to the actual measurements of the object. SCALE: a ratio that compares the measurements used in a scale drawing with the actual measurements. SCALE FACTOR: a constant of proportionality
