Weapons Past Shotguns - long powerful guns
Bow and arrow - a pointy metal on a short stick with a sling shot Spears - sharp stone on a stick Knives - sharp piece of metal Curved sabers - curved swords Gun powder - black powder to make fire Present Thomson submachine gun - it is a compact automatic weapon firing ammunition, designed for a short range assault and close quarter fighting and was first used by the German Army in 1917. Bazooka- it consists of a lightweight metal tube held on the shoulder, from which a stabilized rocket could be fired. Sniper- a gun with an aiming target lock. This gun is very powerful. Uzi- a gun that shoots a lot of bullets. Tanks- a big machine that shoots missiles. Smoke bomb- a bomb that when you throw it, smoke comes out.

Transportation Past In the past they use to travel by boat, horse or on foot. They also use to travel by wagon. They also traveled by ferry. In the past, they also traveled by carriage The colonists built many boats for trading along the coast. The colonists widened the paths for travel on horseback. Later they used carts and wagons pulled by horses or oxen. The colonists put much effort into building roads. They had dirt roads. Present Now transportation is a lot faster due to cars, taxies, buses, airplanes, and ships. Railroads- in Connecticut they use railroads, trains that go on the surface.

Government Past Connecticut was ruled by England.
Connecticut had to pay taxes to England. The more Connecticut people thought of themselves as Americans, the less they liked paying English taxes. By the 1760s, Connecticut and the other Colonies were doing well and making money. The English government wanted some of that money, that’s what led them to war. Present The Connecticut government is made of the Legislature Branch, the Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch.

Glossary Representation- When people are elected to the government to do what the voters want them to do. Taxation- the imposition of a tax the system by which taxes are imposing taxes. Colonies- a body of people who settle far from home but maintain ties with their homeland, inhabitants remain nationals of their home state but are not literally under the home states system of government. The executive branch is made up of the state officers. The judicial branch is made up of the supreme court, the appellate court, the superior court, and the probate court. The Legislative branch is made of the men and women of this state.
