POLYGONS AND QUADRILATERLS
3
POLYGONS A Simple closed curve made up of only line
segments is called a polygon.
4
TYPES OF POLYGON 1.TRIANGLE It has three sides and three vertices.
5
2.QUADRILATERAL It has four sides and four vertices.
6
3.PENTAGON It has five sides and five vertices.
7
4.HEXAGON It has six sides and six vertices.
8
5.HEPTAGON It has seven sides and seven vertices.
9
6.OCTAGON It has eight sides and eight vertices.
10
7.NONAGON It has nine sides and nine vertices.
11
8.DECAGON It has ten sides and ten vertices.
12
QUADRILATERAL Let A,B,C,D be four points in a plane that no three
of them are collinear and the line segments AB,BC, CD and DA do not intersect except at their end points. Then, the figure formed by these four line segments is called quadrilateral ABCD.
13
TYPES OF QUADRILATERAL
1.PARALLELOGRAM A quadrilateral with each pair of opposite sides parallel.
14
2.RHOMBUS A parallelogram with sides of equal length.
15
3.RECTANGLE A parallelogram with a right angle.
16
4.SQUARE A rectangle with sides of equal length.
17
5.KITE A quadrilateral with exactly two pairs of equal consecutive sides.
