2 Who Can Apply? Pregnant women
Women who are breastfeeding a baby under 1 year of age Women who have had a baby in the past 6 months Parents, step-parents, guardians, and foster parents of infants and children under the age of 5 can apply for their children

3 Eligibility Requirements
Meet the income guidelines At or below 185% of the federal poverty level Adjunctively eligible through Medicaid, SNAP, TANF Be at nutritional risk Live in Texas WIC is an equal opportunity provider For appointments call (512) or 1(877) WIC-APPT

4 WIC Services Nutrition education Breastfeeding support and assistance
One/One Counseling with degreed Nutritionist Group classes High Risk RD Counseling Cooking Demonstrations Breastfeeding support and assistance Breastfeeding Peer Counselors Mom’s Place Breastfeeding Clinic Breast pumps Nutritious foods Healthy Foods Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Referrals

5 Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (BFPC) Program
BFPC who have been on WIC at some point in their lives and breastfed at least one child Offer peer breastfeeding support in WIC clinics and at Mom’s Place Teach breastfeeding classes Outreach in the community

6 Mom’s Place Lactation Support Center
Lactation consultations Infant weight checks Breastfeeding assistance and education Telephone help line Weekend pump delivery for NICU babies Breastfeeding assistance for all mothers, both WIC and non-WIC

7 Mom’s Place Lactation Support Center
Pedi resident and nursing student rotations Caloric analysis of breastmilk High risk infants (NICU, slow wt gain, jaundice, etc.) seen within hours of referral Referrals to other community resources as needed Mothers’ Milk Bank depot

8 Clinical Lactation Practicum
Observation of IBCLCs at Mom’s Place and a local hospital CEUs To register, go to: e/cl_lactate.shtm

9 Mom’s Place Lactation Support Center
Mom’s Place tours available by appointment MOMS (6667)

10 Central Texas Breastfeeding Coalition
Non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health and safety of mothers, babies, and families through breastfeeding education, advocacy, and collaborative partnerships of public and private organizations. Monthly meetings Hosted latch on, giving breastfeeding books to local organizations for distribution, IBCLC info session, chocolate milk summit, participate in area conferences
