If you receive an early alert, please DO NOT WITHDRAW before talking to your advisor. Clarissa Identify students that are struggling, gives students a window to recover WHY………………. Don’t withdraw from your classes immediately. Opportunity for you to find out why you got an early alert. Not all professors will do the early alerts, so if you do not get one, it is still a good idea to check in. Identify the root of the problem, action plan- look at the notes the professor gave, and then refer back to the syllabus if you have questions about expectations. Create dialogue with professor –discuss issue or problem Kudos! Support services on campus Be involved…..if you see your future,,,, then you must become involved in your future.

Academic Integrity Governance Policy Library Number: Section D Policy Name: STUDENT ACADEMIC INTEGRITY PROCESS INTRODUCTION As members of an academic community, both students and faculty share responsibility for maintaining high standards of personal and professional integrity. If a student violates these standards, the Academic Integrity Process affords a fair resolution. The committee outlined herein may be called upon to hear cases where a breach of student academic integrity is alleged by instructor. In all cases, it is the responsibility of any university representatives to render fair and appropriate decisions reaffirming standards of integrity expected in the academic community…. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY A breach of student academic integrity falls into three basic areas: cheating, duplicate submission and plagiarism Cheating: Cheating is any form of fraudulent or deceptive academic act, including falsification of data, possessing, providing, or using unapproved materials, sources, or tools for a project, exam, or body of work submitted for faculty evaluation. Duplicate Submission: Duplicate submission is the submitting of the same or similar work for credit in more than one course without prior approval of the instructors for those same courses. Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the representation of others’ ideas as one’s own without giving proper attribution to the original author or authors. Plagiarism occurs when a student copies direct phrases from a text (e.g. books, journals, and internet) and does not provide quotation marks or paraphrases or summarizes those ideas without giving credit to the author or authors. In all cases, if such information is not properly and accurately documented with appropriate credit given, then the student has committed plagiarism. Rose: Consequences of Academic Dishonesty Group work and cheating- if you have questions, ask your professor! Any act of academic dishonesty will incur the following possible consequences. After notifying and presenting the student with evidence of such misconduct, the instructor has the full prerogative to assign an: “F” for the offense “F” for the entire course. The instructor will inform and, if possible, meet with the student concerning the decision reached A student may be brought before the Academic Conduct Committee of the college in which the alleged offense occurred, and may face academic suspension or dismissal from the university. (See D17.0, Academic Conduct and Appeals Procedures,” and D18.0, “RIT Student Conduct Process.”)

Think “Program” = “USCB” Think “Plan”= Major (with the BS code since you are a bachelors student)

These are all of the classes you need to take. Orange=you need to do something. See the degree tracker on the lower right. You will get an electronic copy after your first meeting with your advisor. You can always your advisor or ask the front desk to you the most updated excel document for your files. Difference between a Professional Minor vs a Liberal Arts Minor. Liberal arts Immersions vs Liberal Arts minor- 3 vs 5, buttttttttt make sure to check the prerequisites. MATH and APPSTAT, some of the sciences, and psychology. Perspectives: Certain areas will be prescribed. We will send out more when you are preparing for spring registration and we will give you a hand out during your first meeting with us. Faculty Advisor: Shout out your faculty advisor’s last name!! 4+1 requirements. Who is interested in getting an MBA, Masters in Business Administration, at some point? Don’t know, that is ok! Setting yourself up for success- where do they go? (Hint: Free electives)

Cohort Courses MGMT 101- Business 1: Ideas & Business Planning ACCT 110- Financial Accounting MGIS 130- Information Systems & Technology Other possible 1st Year Requirements UWRT/ENGL 150- First Year Writing ACSC 10- YearOne (non-credit college transition course) One of the following: ECON 101- Principles of Microeconomics STAT 145- Intro to Statistics I INTB 225- Global Business Environment Math specific course depends on Math Placement, Exam score or AP Credit (i.e. Algebra, College Algebra, Applied Calculus) Clarissa: Depending on your transfer credits, AP, high school college courses, and placement exams, your first semester may look slightly different. In general- the core business cohort and first year writing and Year one should be on everyone’s schedule. Everyone have full-time classes? What is a full-time course load (12 credits)? What is the maximum course load (18 credits)? (Honors is an exception) Cohort sections Tutoring: ACCT/FINC tutoring schedule is on our website and is located in this building. MATH and STAT tutoring is through the Bates Center and the updated handout will be available after add/drop week. TUTORS!!!

Business 1: Ideas and Business Planning
Part 1 of 2 class sequence comprising the freshman integrated experience. You will be introduced to the key functional areas of business, the evaluation of new business opportunities, and the business plan process. By applying the creative process, you will conceive new business ideas that will be developed in Business 2. Clarissa: Cohort model- advisors and faculty teaching all three cohort courses will be regularly connecting about any struggles you may have.
