2. 4 IST WC Degree Program Update
4 IST degree program was approved during the spring semester and is being marketed via the WC at the following site:
Approval of 4 IST WC has started the formalized ramping up of teaching identification, course development, and course revisions.

3. 2/4 IST WC Collaboration with IST Campuses/Colleges
Secured instructors for course offerings and development through FA 2010.
Representation includes instructors (multiple in some cases) from the following locations: Penn State York, Penn State Beaver, Penn State Worthington Scranton, Penn State Allegheny, Penn State DuBois, Penn State New Kensington, & Penn State UP.

4. Identified Demand of the 4 IST WC Degree Program
Multiple markets for the 4 IST WC offering:
Lower and mid-level information technology professionals between the ages of 20 and 40.
Information technology novices seeking careers in information sciences.
2 IST WC current students and graduates who are now able to “roll into” the 4 IST WC program.
Number of individuals holding IST like occupations totaled more than 1,000,000 in 2006 with an expected increase of 80% by 2016 (BLS, 2008).

5. Enrollment Impact & Student Flow
The 2 IST with the (G BUS) continues to have little impact on the residential offering.
4 IST WC- Integration and Application option is having no impact to date on residential offerings- all admits for the 4 IST WC at this point are all new (no previous affiliation with PSU).
The new population of students unable to enroll through resident instruction for 4 IST major at Penn State are seeking to participate in the online 4 IST WC program rather than going to other competing institutions.
Bottom line- We are now attracting the potential students we were losing to other schools since we did not have a 4-year IST WC offering.

6. 4 IST WC Growth Data
4 IST WC, which was recently approved, already has 23 students enrolled for this academic year.
None of the 23 4 IST WC admits were previous Penn State students.
Full marketing for the 4 IST WC will be commencing this week geared to 2 IST current students and grads. Potential to be over 40 students enrolled in the 4 IST WC by fall- Not bad for a first year offering!

7. 2/4 IST WC Growth Data
2 IST WC has grown to 55 students with 116 course enrollments per semester (Spring, 2009).
Enrollments in IST courses from 2005 to next year have grown 1100% from 49 to 535 annually.
IST course offerings from 2005 through 2011 will grow at a minimum of 700% from 5 to (excludes good chance of opening multiple course sections for specific classes).

Expansion management of rollout plan due to higher demand for IST online courses.
Minimal demographic impact on campuses via the offering of WC classes.
How do we effectively manage distributed teaming environments within the virtual classrooms?
In some cases, IST WC classes have helped students from other campuses maintain academic progress due to cancellation of their residential courses.
