SUMMARIZE & REPORT
If you read an entire book and someone asks you what it is about, do you tell them the whole story?
Summarize means to retell the most important information, briefly.
For example, if I say: “I have a sister. Her name is Jessica and she lives in Canada. She is 28 years old and she works as a nurse”.
You could say “Matt has a 28 year old sister in Canada and she is a nurse”. Same information, but more briefly.

Don’t forget, if someone tells you their story, there are many words you have to change.
For example, if I say “I like pizza”, you cannot say “Matt says I like pizza”.
Do you like pizza? Maybe, but here you must change “I” to “he”.
“Matt says he likes pizza”; this is called reporting.
You report when you say what someone else tells you. Like on T.V. news.

You are going to interview your partner.
You must ask them 12 questions. You don’t have to write the answers completely, you can just write the most important information.
For example, if someone says: “My family and I went to Japan for our summer vacation”, you can just write “Japan”.
You must have 3 different types of questions.

You must ask 12 questions TOTAL about 3 different topics:
Your Family
Your Friends
Your Studies
Once you have all your answers, you are going to have to write about someone else’s summer vacation, so make sure you get enough information to make 3 body paragraphs.

6. CREATIVE WRITING SUMMARIZE & REPORT
You are going to write about your partner’s summer vacation.
Here are your 5 paragraphs ( sentences):
Introduction
Body 1: What they did with their family.
Body 2: What they did with their friends.
Body 3: What they did to practice English.
Conclusion
Your sentences should have about 8-10 words. I will count periods.
