Some Numbers: 132 Registered from 93 different organizations 95 actual participants Approx 40 New Organizations to GCI

5 Brief summary of Key outcomes of the workshop
Share more about GCI operations and success stories Strong encouragement on use the GEOSS Common Infrastructure to secure data discoverability and accessibility across the world Showcase of enhancement of the GEOSS Portal and GEO DAB and future of the GCI Encouragement and examples on using GCI components such GEODAB APIs and GEOSS Portal widgets for GEO community portals. Dialogue on key elements: Standards, Data Quality, GEOSS Data Management Principles Agreement with data providers to implement Data Management Principles, towards better quality of the resources provided in a step approach Enhanced communication on statistics to Data providers, throug the establishment of dashboards Learn about brokering process, how to contribute data and resources to the GCI Data providers have applauded the semplification of the registration and brokering process with the inclusion of the Yellow pages Data providers recognized that the process of being brokered provides a valuable service to the organization it self, improving quality as well visibility and recognizion

8 SBA Views, an easier way to access thematic content

9 SBAs thematic functionalities

10 GEOSS Portal Enhancements: first phase status
Restyling of the Graphical User Interface Aligned with new GEO Web-site and Brand Simpler / More Intuitive Improvements include: page structures, search & discovery, results display & access Inclusion of smart filters for imagery (Landsat, Sentinel 2) and SAR-type (Sentinel 1) satellite data and Earthquake events My WorkSpace initial set-up (Personalisation/Profiling, Save and reuse searches, Bookmark results) Geo-localisation services: API, Base maps selection (CartoDB, ESRI, MapBox, OpenStreetMap) Proprietary ESRI data (e.g. regarding active hurricanes, tropical storms)

11 Current focus User-centric, considering various user communities:
GEO Flagships and Global initiatives ESA Thematic Exploitation Platforms Copernicus Core Services: Atmosphere (CAMS), Marine (CMEMS), Land (CLMS), Climate (C3S), Emergency (EMS), Security Additional enhancements considered include: My workspace evolution; Multi-modality and responsive web-design; Statistics; GEOSS Portal Reuse: Widgets and Mirroring; Visualisation services (e.g. layers, legend, …); GEO Like and social collaboration; Processing services Upcoming (Online) Workshops: User-oriented ones, Data Provider Oriented ones, Developer oriented ones

12 GEOSS Portal Widgets from Communities
Reuse GEOSS Portal GEOSS Portal Widgets from Communities GEOSS Portal functionalities will be available for reuse by other portals to Align with GEOSS Look & Feel for a ‘one portal’ experience. Combine GEOSS Portal mapping functionality, search and results display functionality and integrate this together with their own functionality.

13 The GEO DAB APIs

14 Different APIs for serving diverse Application development use cases
A set of standard Web service interfaces: e.g. OGC service interfaces, OAI-PMH, etc. A set of APIs for software developers: Client side APIs: (high-level) JavaScript library … . (Python) Server side APIs: REST/JSON APIs OpenSearch APIs … .

15 GEOSS View Definition:
Subset of the whole GEOSS resources defined by applying, via the DAB, a set of clauses Discovery clauses (e.g. spatial envelope, keywords, sources, etc.) Access clauses (e.g. data format, access protocol, CRS, etc.) Defined “View” exposed on the GEOSS Portal Consumer-defined View – i.e. Client-side These views are available only for the client application which defined the view. Provider-defined View –i.e. Server-side These views are available for all client applications.

16 Test Environment A simple web-based tool to define and manage GEOSS Views
