1 29 Robots Rearrange the labels
Move the labels to indicate whether each is a strength or weakness (or maybe both) of using robots Strengths Weaknesses Very expensive to buy Do not get tired and make mistakes. Produce identical high quality products Do not need lunch breaks Need electricity to work – power shuts down -> production stops Robots cannot learn – they need to be programmed what to do Robots require specialist staff to operate them. Employees need training to operate the robots Work all day every day without a break Can be programmed quickly to do new jobs Products produced can never be called ‘hand made’ which some people like Do not get bored Can do heavy jobs without injury If it goes wrong it will need a specialist to fix it. Can replace humans and so reduce wage costs No wage costs Can work in hazardous areas Might be a strength or a weakness © S.Hacker 2005
