1 Welcome

2 In Christ alone my hope is found-- He is my Light, my Strength,
my Song! This Cornerstone, this solid ground-- Firm through the fiercest drought and storm!

3 My Comforter, my All in all; Here in the love of Christ I stand.
What heights of love, what depths of peace-- when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in all; Here in the love of Christ I stand.

4 In Christ alone, who took on flesh- Fullness of God in helpless Babe.
This Gift of love and righteousness-- Scorned by the ones He came to save;

5 ‘Til on the cross as Jesus died the wrath of God was satisfied-
For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live!

6 There in the ground, His body lay- Up from the grave He rose again!
Light of the world by darkness slain. Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again!

7 And as He stands in victory Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me--
For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ!

8 this is the power of Christ in me! Jesus commands my destiny;
No guilt in life, no fear in death-- this is the power of Christ in me! From life’s first cry, to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny;

9 Can ever pluck me from His hand--
No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand-- ‘Til He returns or calls me home; Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand!

19 Facing a Task Unfinished
Facing a task unfinished That drives us to our knees A need that, undiminished Rebukes our slothful ease We, who rejoice to know Thee Renew before Thy throne The solemn pledge we owe Thee To go and make Thee known

20 Where other lords beside Thee Hold their unhindered sway Where forces that defied Thee Defy Thee still today With none to heed their crying For life, and love, and light Unnumbered souls are dying And pass into the night

21 We go to all the world With kingdom hope unfurled No other name has power to save But Jesus Christ The Lord

22 We bear the torch that flaming Fell from the hands of those Who gave their lives proclaiming That Jesus died and rose Ours is the same commission The same glad message ours Fired by the same ambition To Thee we yield our powers

23 We go to all the world With kingdom hope unfurled No other name has power to save But Jesus Christ The Lord

24 O Father who sustained them O Spirit who inspired Saviour, whose love constrained them To toil with zeal untired From cowardice defend us From lethargy awake! Forth on Thine errands send us To labour for Thy sake

26 Acts 13b Mission Matters

27 Ob Portu a ship standing off a port, waiting for the moment when it could ride the tide into a shallow harbor opportunity

28 Julius Caesar, Act 4, Scene 3
There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; Omitted, all the voyage of their life Is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat; And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our venture

29 “And while they were . . .”  Mission is about reaching the whole world for Jesus Christ. “ministering” = performing official duties of any kind They served where they were and then received the missionary call.

30 “ministering to the Lord.”
Anyone in Christian service must be sure do his work unto the Lord and not unto men.

31 “’. . . the work to which I have called them.’”
Adoniram Judson William Carey God gets the right people in the right places because He has a work He wants to do in this world.

32 “Then when they had fasted and prayed . . .”
The church must pray for God to speak to the congregation about missions, trusting God to pick out some from among them for missionary work.   Fasting is done as one foregoes the normal demands of life in order to concentrate for a time on finding what God wants It pleases God when we deny our bodies’ needs for a few hours and pray His will for us and others.

33 CONCLUSION Have you honestly asked God to call you or a child into full-time Christian work?   Anyone who is called to serve Christ is expected to deny himself.   Are you in need of Christ?  Christ can come into your life and wipe away your past sins and grant you eternal life which leads to a more abundant earthly life.

34 There is a Redeemer, Jesus, God’s own Son; Precious Lamb of God,
Messiah, Holy One.

35 And leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.
Thank You, oh, my Father, for giving us Your Son, And leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.

36 Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Jesus my Redeemer, Name above all names; Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, O for sinners slain.

37 and leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.
Thank You, oh my Father, for giving us Your Son, and leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.

38 There I’ll serve my King forever
When I stand in glory, I will see His face; There I’ll serve my King forever In that holy place.

39 and leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.
Thank You, oh my Father, for giving us Your Son, and leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.
