1 Tim Barrass Split 50-50 (100-100?) between BaBar and CMS projects.
Interested in issues of persistent data management and grid integration. Fresh from a PhD modelling volcanic ash clouds in Earth Sciences- so am coming up to speed with what’s going on in particle physics.

2 Non-BaBar work CMS work
Implement and begin to stress test the LCG POOL Objectivity replacement at CERN and Bristol. General Contribute to testing the EDG RLS by installing the service at Bristol. Attend two OO coding courses at RAL in December.

3 BaBar goals Q4 2002 Have been getting up to speed with BaBar computing environment. Creating test federations and doing MC runs. Work with ROOT trees and files. Create a snapshot of the conditions db at RAL to link jobs against. Develop a BaBar Grid testbed at Bristol (with Wahid). Attend the Dec collaboration meeting at SLAC.

4 BaBar goals Q1 2003 Contribute to conversion of Mini-DST to a ROOT format (a la Micro-DST). Help develop BaBar Grid infrastructure. Stress test file transfers with other BaBar Grid sites, and MC job submission (as other sites are currently doing). Use the testbed to access (“gridify”?)BaBar farms at Bristol.
