1 ECHS: Rules to Live By Picture from:

2 Be WHERE you are supposed to be…
Before school: Be in a classroom or outside where we eat lunch(discussed on the next slide). Be mindful of the fact that people may be having classes close by. After college classes: Be back in your classroom. If you need to go anywhere else, check in with your teacher first. Academic Lab: Be in your classrooms working. We should not find you out wandering the halls. ECHS

3 Be WHERE you are supposed to be…
Vending machines: Never! Federal Law! (No snacks from the bookstore either!) Elevators: Leave them for people who genuinely need them. Be grateful that you are young and healthy enough that you can walk up the stairs! Lunch: You may eat lunch in the inside classrooms or outside in the courtyard area. Students are not allowed inside or near the mobile classrooms or upstairs without a teacher with them. ECHS

4 Be WHERE you are supposed to be…
Library (LRC): 9th and 10th - Only with permission and a buddy. 11th & 12th – Follow Seminar Teacher Instructions. ECHS

5 …WHEN you are supposed to be there…
Make sure you are on time for ALL of your classes. When teachers ask you to head to class, go to class then, not when you finish hanging out. Make sure you are on time for your college classes. Don’t “dilly dally” in the hall and show up late. Return to your ECHS classroom promptly after your college class is over. ECHS

6 …WHEN you are supposed to be there…
College textbooks should be returned on or before your college exam day. Textbooks are a huge cost to ECHS. We have spent over $100,000 on books some years. If you do not return your book on time or it is damaged, you WILL be charged. Some college books cost over $200. ECHS

7 …doing WHAT you are supposed to be doing…
Before school: Great time to get help from teachers! Otherwise, you need to remember that people around us might be having class, so what ever you are doing, do it quietly! In college classes: Make sure you are keeping up with your work! We are not in the classes to stay on you about doing your work, but know that those expectations are still there. If you find yourself falling behind, please ask for help! If there are things that you have questions about, feel free to ask us or to find a time to talk to your professor. If you do not feel comfortable talking to your professor, let us know and we’ll see if we can help! ECHS

8 …doing WHAT you are supposed to be doing…
After college classes: Head back to your classroom. This is a great time to catch up on homework! Remember this is your teacher’s planning time, please give them a quiet working environment! Academic Lab time: This is a time we purposefully build into our schedule to help you! Take advantage of it--use it as an opportunity to get caught up on work or ask for extra help. Phones: Allowed during lunch and with teacher permission. ECHS

9 …doing WHAT you are supposed to be doing…
Technology Music Devices/Phones: Can be used at lunch or when directed by a teacher. No Texting: No electronic device should be used for messaging purposes during class time unless directed by a teacher. This means any device--phones, laptops, tablets, etc. Laptops are for educational purposes. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, streaming music (Pandora, Spotify, etc), YouTube and instant messaging are not educational! ECHS

10 …doing WHAT you are supposed to be doing…
Technology Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT): You are allowed to bring your own laptop to school if you would like. You will not have access to files on our server and there will be no way for you to print from your device. ECHS

11 …and RESPECT yourself and others.
Be mindful of the people around you, both those that are a part of ECHS and those that are not. Remember to be quiet in the hallways. Make sure that you clean up after yourselves. It is our way of showing we CARE about OUR campus. Respect your surroundings. Take care of our facilities(classrooms, furniture, etc.) and resources(books, laptops, etc.). ECHS

12 …and RESPECT yourself and others.
Leave your classrooms ready for the next class. No one likes to learn in a messy area, so leave it like you found it or better! Our supplies are not free! If you are printing, please help us conserve paper. Print double sided (duplex) and with multiple pages per sheet when ever you can! PowerPoint slides should be printed as “handouts,” not full slides. Choose the correct printer. Do not print multiple times! If you print to the wrong printer, go find it! ECHS

13 …and RESPECT yourself and others.
If you have issues that need to be addressed, find a respectful way to handle them. If you need help, let us know! Negativity spreads much quicker than positivity…try to be polite and positive as much as you can. You’d be surprised how much a little positivity might brighten someone’s day.  ECHS

14 Remember that no matter what, we as a staff are here for you guys
Remember that no matter what, we as a staff are here for you guys. We believe in each and every one of you and we want to see you all be successful. If there is something at school that needs to be taken care of, let us know and we will do what we can. The more we all work together, the better off we all will be! ECHS
