Ideas of chance + uncertainty
Probability Scale A probability scale is an ordered line numbered from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain).
3
Probability Scale A probability scale is an ordered line numbered from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain). The probability of encountering a T-rex on the way home from school is 0. The probability that it will snow in winter could be 0.9!
4
Probability The probability of an event occurring is the chance it may happen, which can be given as a fraction, a decimal or a percentage.
5
Probability Number of successful events Probability =
Total number of possible events Probability = Example 1 Find the probability of rolling a number greater than 4 when throwing a standard dice. Probability = = 2 6 1 3 (always simplify fractions, if possible)
