Castles Option One: My First Castle!
Congratulations! You the only baron this week to be chosen to actually build a Motte and Bailey castle. You must complete all the tasks set otherwise the king will imprison you in the darkest, smelliest dungeon! Task One: Use the pages 1 and 2 of your ‘Castles’ booklet to create a excellent design for your castle on A4. Your design must be labelled and coloured so that the king can really appreciate how great it is. Task Two: Write a letter to a baron friend of yours telling him how you built the castle. Remember to include where you built it, why you placed it there, materials used and who built it for you. Task Three: It is now ten years later and your once great castle is getting older. You must replace it with a stone castle. Design a poster telling the villagers the problems of the old castle and what you’ll need to build a new one.

Create a training book, with simple instructions, to show your soldiers how to use the new weapons. Task Two: Write a report to the baron that you are working for. Tell him how you are going to attack the castle by laying siege. Task Three: You have attacked the castle and won the battle. Design a newspaper informing the local villagers how you won the battle.
