Warm Up Myra drove at a speed of 60 miles per hour. Write an algebraic expression to model this. How far had she traveled after 1 hour? What about after 4, 6, and 7 hours? Use a table to organize your information. Examine the information in the table. How long did it take her to drive 540 miles?

Example 2 What is the approximate side length of a square that has an area of 220 square inches? The area of a square is side length squared, so the side length is the square root of the area. The key is that we need to figure out the perfect squares on either side of 220. If we looked at a multiplication chart we would see that 14 squared is 196 and that 15 squared is 225. 220 is closest to 225 so: Answer: about 15 inches
