2 Anisa Zareh Born and raised in Iran
Have two BAs in Biology and Chemistry and Master’s in Teaching for Secondary Level Third year in Maywood Love teaching Science

3 Philosophy: Relationships are crucial: Students, Teachers, Parents Parent-teacher relationship leads to more collaboration and better learning experience for students When given opportunities, students will take ownership of their learning Teachers should grade smarter, not harder

4 I post class agenda, HW, daily activities along with related handouts on connect site -Calendar and Files. I am a reasonable and kind teacher. It is my greatest hope that I can help students learn to advocate for themselves and develop communication skills that helps them to gain confidence.

5 or call 425-837-6989 to leave a voicemail.
The best way to contact me is via or call to leave a voic . If your child is absent, the best way to help them from being overwhelmed on their return is by checking my connect site. Also, you can remind them to check in with me during SDR or after school as soon as possible. Help from Mrs. Zareh: Set up appointment right after school

8 Students should have their notebook, scotch tape, color pencils, and highlighters with them daily.
Science Notebooks can be stored in class. Students are expected to use their planners everyday

9 The class website is there as a resource.
Skyward Family Access: Online gradebook. Both parents/guardians and students have access codes. I update grades at least once a week. Any questions please let me know. Remind to receive texts

10 Frequent grading of homework confuses completion with understanding
Making Homework Meaningful Frequent quizzes lead to increased learning Use of Incompletes and Interventions Missing assignment/Late assignment Chance to retake/redo to improve grade and show understanding Alternative Response

11 For Parents/Guardian:
Introduce your child to me in Family Survey. Please check Skyward Family Access to be sure your address is current and stay up-to date with your child’s grade (I update Skyward weekly). Encourage your child to review their interactive notebook for 10 minutes every night.

12 If the zero is marked ‘AB’, that means your child was absent on the day the assignment was due/collected. S/he is responsible for turning the assignment in when s/he returns to school. Full credit will be assigned as long as the assignment is turned in within the number of days s/he was absent. If the zero is marked ‘MS’, that means your child was at school, but did not have the assignment completed on the day it was due/collected. The assignment will remain a zero until it is turned in. If the zero is not followed by AB or MS, then that is the grade your child earned on the assignment. If an assignment is marked ‘MS’ and your child insists s/he turned it in, ask: ‘Was your name on it? Check the ‘No Name’ folder for your assignment.’
