A Study on the High Strength Concrete Beams with CFRP Bars and Durability Yeou-Fong Li1 and Ming-Jung Hung2 1Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering , NTUT, Taipei, Taiwan . 2 Master of the Department of Civil Engineering, NTUT, Taipei, Taiwan. Abstract : This article presents of the flexural behavior of high strength concrete beams reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) rebars. Two different concrete strength and nine different types of scaled-down RC beams were used in the bending test. In the test, measured the force and displacement, and compared each other. A sectional analysis method was used to obtain the ultimate strength of these beams. The accelerated aging tests of durability performance were used CFRP bars and glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) bars under different conditions, including acid, alkaline and sulfate environments. Keywords: FRP Bar, Flexural Concrete Beam, High Strength Concrete, Durability The bending tests of beam specimen were performed in NTUT Martial Lab. The accelerated aging tests of durability, including acid, alkaline and sulfate environments. The CFRP bars displayed excellent durability performance. The HSC beams with CFRP bars could improve the ultimate strength in over reinforced design. The durability performance of GFRP bars were not good. The HSC beams with CFRP bars could reduce the deformation.
