God tests the hearts (Psa. 7:8-9; Jer. 17:9-10).

To test them in order to do good to them in the end (Deut. 8:16).

Hardship can be a testing that refines (Psa. 66:8-12).

To test and see if people love God with all of their heart (Deut. 13:1-5).

To test and see if His people will obey Him (Judg. 3:1-4).
